Secondary - Changing your class grade scale

YouTube Video

Text instructions:

If you would like to change your class grade scale (i.e. you want a D to start at 58% instead of 60%) follow these instructions.

First, go to Grade Book Setup.

Next click on "Report Card Score Types" at the top navigation bar.

On this screen, you will need to duplicate two separate "score types" and modify them to fit your needs, GenesisProgressPeriod and GenesisGrading.  First, scroll down until you find GenesisProgressPeriod and click "Duplicate" for it.  Then click OK to confirm.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see a new score type called "GenesisProgressPeriod (Copy)".  Click on the title for this to edit it.

Change the name to your own (i.e. My Progress Period Scale) then click Save.

Click the pencil next to a row to edit it.  Make changes to the percents as necessary and then hit Save at the top of the screen.

Now click Back to return to the score types list.  We will need to repeat this same process for the "GenesisGrading" scale.

Find GenesisGrading and click Duplicate.

Now scroll to the bottom of your page and click on GenesisGrading (Copy) to edit it.

Edit the name of your new scale (i.e. My Grading Scale) and hit Save

Click the pencil next to a row to edit it.  Make changes to the percents as necessary (for most people this should match your Progress Period exactly) and then hit Save at the top of the screen.

Now we need to assign these new score types to your class.  Click "Class Settings" in the top navigation.

Here you will see your list of classes as well as the score type assigned to each.  You can click the pencil next to each row or if you are going to change them all click the edit button at the top left.

Change the "Overall Grade Type" for each of your classes and then hit Save

You're done!  Your new grade scales should reflect in your Gradebook.
