Classroom Monitor

The Classroom Monitor is a VERY beta project to provide teachers a way to view and filter the Chromebook activity of students in their classroom.  This is currently only available at a small subset of rooms as we are still experimenting with it.

Access at: http://crmon.newarkunified.org/index.php/Login

Viewing activity
Once logged in to you can find your classes activity under "Live Activity" on the left tab.

From here you will see all of your students as well as the current sites they are visiting.  Please be patient as it can take a minute for them to show up.

Filtering sites
From the "Live Activity" page you are able to block specific sites, restrict students only to a list of allowed sites you specify, or allow them to visit all sites either to your whole class or on an individual basis.

Creating/editing your own site list
Click on "Your Lists" on the left hand side and create a list of sites.
  1. Name your list
  2. Type in the sites for the list
  3. Save

After you create the list it will be available in the "Live Activity" page.  Remember, you can either block all of the sites on this list, restrict students to only visit these sites or allow them to visit all sites.

  1. Choose your list from the dropdown
  2. You can apply this list to the entire class
  3. Or you can apply to an individual students

The eyeball allows you to see the student's current screen.  This feature is still in development and is a bit buggy.
  4. The current page is shown and color coded to either Allow, Block or Restrict
  5. The current page the student is on is shown on the left

When the student access a blocked site the color will change to red indicating the student is attempting to access blocked material.
